The best visual search engines: TinEye and Same Energy.

TinEye allows you to upload any image and search for similar images online. The FAQ claims that TinEye is "private and secure" and does not save user-uploaded images. Run by a small privately-owned company based in Toronto.

Same Energy makes it easy to search for images by typing a query or clicking any image on the screen. It's not a Big Tech service but an independent project by Jacob Jackson and does not appear to be engaged in surveillance capitalism.

Artvee allows you to search, “browse, and download high-resolution, public domain artworks.” (For example, see these typographic theater posters.)

Whatever you do, don't use Google Images for search.
